Beekeeping Update March 2018

Now is a good time to start the season in clean gear
Wow- Clean suits
Give the hives and outside kit a coat of paint, breathable non toxic. I use masonry paint on the hives and good quality weatherproof external gloss, weathered before use on the stands and lifts.

If you’ve forgotten to clear out all the wasp traps, do it now- Put the residue in the compost heap.
Need Cleaning Out.
Check the bees for enough feed and that they are out on a warm day.
2 Queen bumble bees seen on the winter heather 16-3-18, Early Bumble bee and White Tail.
Good to see the Honey bees have found the Peaches and Nectarines in full blossom in the Greenhouse.16-3-18
